Hops and elderberry plants (September 2018)
Hops
Cascade hops are an important ingredient in HolySmoke! Gin and are grown by Peter McAuslan’s Sutton farm.
They are perennial vines that regrow each year, and are hand cultivated, picked and dried by Peter.
Hops give the gin a citrusy aromatic character.
Elderberry cordial
Elderberry cordial is easy to make at home, and makes a fantastic gin drink. The plants grow wild or in home gardens, and feature creamy white aromatic flowers. Cordial ingredients are sugar, water, honey, (preferably wild flower), lemon juice, and lemon zest with fifteen elderflower heads.
